Leader: (from Psalm 32:10-11) “Many are the torments of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.” Who will trust the Lord today?

Leader: We are all invited to trust the Lord today. Let us bring ourselves to God in prayer.

All: God of steadfast love, we put our trust in your care for us. When we need to find our way home, we put our trust in you.

  • The funeral for Gary Duits (Alma's son-in-law, married to her daughter Julia) will be held at Holyrood Mennonite Church on Wednesday, April 3, at 1 PM.
  • During Holy Week, all are invited to the Inter-Mennonite worship services at Lendrum Mennonite Church (11210 – 59 Avenue).

~ Maundy Thursday (April 18) at 8pm we will share communion together and then progressively darken the sanctuary during a service of scripture readings (a Tenebrae service).

~ Good Friday (April 19) we will gather at 10:30 am for a service of song, scripture, and a message from LMC's Senior Pastor, Paul Cumin.

  • REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the annual MCA Women's retreat, which will be held June 7-9, at the beautiful Sunnyside Retreat Centre in Sylvan Lake. Just go to www.mcawomen.ca for registration and retreat information We are blessed to have Irma Fast-Dueck, Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) as our special speaker on the theme: The Faces of Mary- companion on the journey. This retreat is always a wonderful time of fellowship with women from many cultures and churches and a chance to grow in our faith. Would love to see you!

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Pray for God’s direction during the upcoming election. Pray for our leaders.
  • Please pray for the family of Gary Duits (Alma's son-in-law, married to her daughter Julia) as they mourn his death on March 26.
  • Pray for Florence as she recovers from her hip replacement surgery.
  • Pray for Ruth’s sister Betty as she continues radiation treatment.
  • Pray for Arthur from Uganda to find work and to be granted a work visa.
  • Please pray for comfort for Robert’s family.
  • Please pray for Dorothy.
  • Pray for God’s direction for Dixon, as he has some decisions to make.
  • Please pray for Joanne as she prepares to go to Liberia in April.
  • Pray for Zach as he is traveling in Europe, for traveling mercies and protection.
  • Please continue to remember and pray for our members who are no longer able to attend church on a regular basis: Ray and Ginnie Brubaker, Alma Burkholder, George Varghese.

  • Friday, April 12, 7:00pm: The First Mennonite Church Truth and Reconciliation Action Group invites you to attend a screening of Treaty Talk (www.treatytalk.com) hosted by the producer Patricia Makokis at First Mennonite (3650 – 91 Street NW). The screening will be followed by a discussion on what it means to be a non-Indigenous treaty person. Any and all are welcome! Pamphlets are on the bulletin board.
  • Ten Thousand Villages AGM: Wednesday April 24 at 7 pm, at Lendrum Church 11210 59 Ave. Please bring $10 to renew your membership and bring along anyone else that is interested in becoming a member.
  • MCC is responding to Cyclone Idai in Mozambique and Malawi. Cyclone Ida destroyed 90% of Beira, one of Mozambique's largest cities, and has affected nearly 3 million people in its path.
