  • Women’s Group: THIS Wednesday (7th) at 7 pm at the church. Please note that the dates listed on the February calendar are incorrect. The correct dates should be February 7 and 21.
  • NEXT SUNDAY! Child dedication and potluck: On Sunday, February 11th, we will have a child dedication for Sahr and Mary’s daughter Perpetual. Following the service we will celebrate by sharing a potluck meal.
  • Discipleship Circle: Holyrood’s discipleship circle will resume meeting on Sunday evening, Feb. 11, in the church basement, at 7 PM. All are welcome!
  • Evangelism workshop: Holyrood Mennonite Church will be hosting an evangelism workshop, led by Tim Chesterton, the minister at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, on Saturday, March 3, 10-4 PM. There is no cost, and lunch will be provided. The title of Tim’s workshop is “How to Relax and Enjoy Evangelism.” Everyone is warmly encouraged to attend, even if the idea of sharing your faith is rather frightening!
  • Mennonite Catholic Dialogue: A group of Mennonites and Roman Catholics meets regularly for conversations concerning our faith traditions and common goals. You are invited to join the dialogue on February 23 at 7:00 pm at the Lendrum Church (11210 59 Ave NW). Come and hear how these meetings have impacted the people who have walked this journey together. Refreshments will be served. For further information contact Ike Glick.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Please pray for Gordon and Wendy Baergen as they are leaving with 12 people on Monday Feb 5, on a CPI Learning Tour to Honduras. Prayers for our safety as they travel in a country currently experiencing political upheaval would be appreciated.
  • Please pray for Antoinette Wallace, as her cousin has died in Liberia.
  • Please pray for Alice Suah’s sister, who is in serious condition after a car accident in Liberia.
  • Please pray for Jackson Boakai and the members of his family, as Jackson’s older brother has died in Liberia.
  • Please pray for Pastor Werner’s mother, as she recovers from surgery.

  • On February 7, Bill C-262 - the Indigenous Human Rights Act - will be voted on. If passed, the Bill will move on to a Parliamentary Committee for further discussion. We must keep the pressure on and make sure the Government of Canada votes in support of Bill C-262. Individuals and congregations can support by emailing your respective Member of Parliament to encourage them to stand up for justice by championing Bill C-262. Please cc Minister of Justice Jody Wilson-Raybould as she is responsible for this file.
